The NC DMV site is really bad at showing available appointments.
So I made a better one.
What is this site?
This is a free service that helps you find available DMV appointments across North Carolina. I pull real-time data from the official NC DMV site every few minutes. You can get instant notifications when appointments open up near your location.
Can you book it for me?
No. Technically that is against the DMV terms of service. While you can't book appointments directly here, you can easily find available slots. Once you find a time that works for you, you can book it on the official NC DMV site at skiptheline.ncdot.gov.
I got notified of an opening and see it here but it's not available on the official site! Is this tool broken?
No. I notify you immediately when an appointment is available and I do everything I can to ensure that it is a real appointment. If you go to the site and it shows only "-" as the appointment time, that means that the appointment is no longer available because someone got there first. My site is updated every few minutes so what you see on the site could be a couple minutes out of date.
This tool is not perfect and I am working making it as accurate to the live state of the official site as possible :)

Why not just text you?
No Text Message Fees
Sending text messages to everyone is prohibitively expensive for me to run.
Better Features
Push notifications are easier to read and interact with on a phone.
More Secure
Text messages can be faked. It is much more difficult to do that with a push notification.
iPhone Setup
1. Tap the Share Button
Look for the share icon at the bottom of Safari
2. Add to Home Screen
Scroll down and select "Add to Home Screen"
3. Enable Notifications
Settings → Notifications → Allow
Android Setup
1. Install to Home Screen
Chrome Menu → Add to Home Screen
2. Enable Notifications
Settings → Apps → Notifications → Allow
What Will This Do?
This will save the site so you can run it in a standalone window. Saving this site allows me to send you desktop notifications when new appointments become available. This doesn't install any software - it simply creates a shortcut to the website that runs in its own window. This is necessary for the site to send you desktop notifications.
If you no longer want to receive notifications, you can just remove the shortcut.
